Brian tells me that I’m slipping, sorry, I don’t have anything to tell right now though. Hung out at Stussy last Friday and got some dope ice cream during a Saturday chiller in McLean. If you’ve emailed me about the zine sorry I haven’t gotten back to you, everyone thats said they wanted one I’ve put one aside for you and I’ll get back to you tonight. Going to the D.c. United game tomorrow.
Lets get to the real reason for this post. I’ve told a few people over the past few years that I would give them copies of this album but never really came through so now is my chance to share it with a bunch more people.
I was given a copy of the first “Last Poets” album by my roommate when we lived on Clay street my second year of college. The album is an undeniable classic. This comes straight from the wiki page and gives a little more info:
“The Last Poets is a group of poets and musicians who arose from the late 1960s African American civil rights movement’s black nationalist thread. Their name is taken from a poem by the South African revolutionary poet Keorapetse Kgositsile, who believed he was in the last era of poetry before guns would take over.
The Last Poets have been cited as one of the earliest influences on what would become hip-hop music; critic Jason Ankeny writes, “With their politically charged raps, taut rhythms, and dedication to raising African-American consciousness, the Last Poets almost single-handedly laid the groundwork for the emergence of hip-hop.”
I figured that this was the best place to put it out there for people to hear because I don’t think I’ve met a lot of people who’ve actually gotten to hear the album. So just click the link above to download the zip.

Only two weeks until I finish my first class. I’ll probably be putting up some of my silly little project on here so everyone can check it out. It’s nothing too crazy, making some custom maps in google and making a little website to link to them and some other info on Baltimore for a pesudo informative site for incoming students/ new coming residents.
Anyway forget all that for the time being. I went to Ikea today and picked up a new shelf for my books, I’ve been looking for a good one for a long time anyway and since theres been a problem where I no longer feel comfortable having my books on the actual shelves in my room I present you with my new shelf…

Apparently wordpress won’t let you embed flash videos from certain sites or some such nonsense. So you’re just gonna have to trust me and click-a-da-link.

DO NOT MISS OUT THIS YEAR! I’m so psyched, it’s the weekend between the end of my first class and the beginning of my second. You know I’m going to be down. As a matter of fact I’m going to come down Wednesday night after my exam (on the 9th), who’s trying to chill?

Trapped Under Ice/ Dirty Money Split – Soon Supposedly
Sorry I know I’ve only been posting about music these days, but there really isn’t much else going on. I’m halfway finished with my first class of graduate school. Apparently you can’t live in Md with an out of state car without either switching your registration to Md (not worth it) or having to pay thirty one bucks a year for a sticker. Stoops. Though I posted the pictures of my printer the other day, I have since come to realize that it won’t handle the kind of print loads I would be putting it though trying to print a zine and I’d be spending a fortune in toner cartridges. Don’t fret though lads and lasses, we have something in the works and you could be seeing copies sooner than you think, it is all laid out and ready to print so you may want to hold your breath. This one is a doozy, black and white, one hundred pages. I have some other random pictures to put up on here soon too so keep on the look out for new.
P.s. check out Brian, Pierre and Long’s Pirate themed yard sale going on this weekend.

P.p.s. Some day this album will come out (actually I just read that they just finished mixing it and it should be available soon with vinyl version coming with extra live 7″ and poster).
Anti-war. Pro-horror.
