NARA tomorrow, the Library Thursday and work Friday.
Then after work I’m jetting back to Ole Virginia. I can’t wait. I hate it here, I don’t know if you’ve been able to tell from previous posts, but College Park sucks. I’ve got a week essentially to get this presentation finished, it’s supposed to be a group project, but thanks to both my team partners for dropping out of the class in the past three weeks and leaving me to do all the work myself. It was really tight of you. At least the first girl to drop told me she was going to drop instead of just not showing up to class for a week and telling me after I sent an email asking what was up.
We also have registration tomorrow, which is going to be amazing…essentially if you aren’t a second year you have to wait until one thirty to register which means if I can’t get in to the Digital Preservation class or the Field Study class I’ll be totally screwed for the semester. Those are two of essentially four of the Archival classes that they offer in the Spring. Keep in mind we are the second best Archives program in the nation.
I was going through consortium classes looking for something to take for a third class to stay full time and have now realized that Corcoran has two programs that sound awesome that I wish I would’ve known about. Masters of Arts in “Exhibition Design” and starting next fall “Art and the book”. Jesus I was so bummed when I saw “Art and the book” because it sounds totally like what I’d like to be doing more than what I’m doing now. I’m going to their open house on the 13th of November. Maybe they can tell me something interesting.

You need to do yourself a favor and check out these illustrations by Harry Clarke for Cinderella and while you’re there check out some other stuff by him, numbers three and four are insane.

I used to think this sort of thing was really stupid, I mean really…just look at it, it’s a little garish no? Fuck it, now I think this sort of thing could work. Really though it has to be one piece on its own. I even think something like the above could be an everyday thing. Now I’m not advocating dressing bummy with one super expensive accessory (I.e. t-shirts/ jeans/ and some horrible pendant or watch), but I think that in any normal situation where say for instance you’re dressing down and you look stylish, not flamboyant, a nice little accent piece, for instance a gold cherub holding a diamond, would be a nice little accessory. Say you might catch it out of the corner of your eye and say to yourself, “Holy shit!”; I think that’s the definition of style. The key is in understatement, I don’t think your outfit should scream, it should speak softly or maybe whisper all the while maybe having one small component that is sophisticated and perhaps give a hint to your status.
I’m sure there will be some good examples of this sort of thing in the new bond movie:
Comes out in two weeks right?

The artwork on a couple of the Burzum albums was all from the same artist Theodor Kittelsen. Lots of illustrations of trolls, etc. Most of the ones used for the Burzum albums came from illustrations he did for a book on the black plague.
I have to admit I have a soft spot for black metal, I mean for a few years toward the end of undergrad I was a serious metalhead. After a while though it does get hard trying to separate the music from the artists, which in the case of a lot of European bands means nationalists. This is a really good album though, kind of borders on his changing style from regular BM to more of an ambient style.
Best BM band, to me, is Summoning. Every album, from the first one’s straight up BM style, to the atmospheric/ epic BM style of the newer albums, is a classic. I’ve got every single release and it’s a lot easier to get behind because every album is based on Tolkien except one (and that one’s really good too). That’s multi-layered nerd-dom. Plus they have the best logo…seriously.

Anyone want to start a band?
