The Skype app is being released for the Iphone tomorrow. I’ve never used it before, but I know a bunch of people do. Maybe good for anyone on tour out of the country or something. Apparently you can only use it if you are in a Wifi hotspot, not over the 3g network. Whatever, might be cool. Free calls. Just make sure it’s not recording you and saving it. It’s discoverable in a court of law.

I remember every one talking about Joaquin Phoenix’s interview on Letterman and how crazy or weird he was acting.  Whatever.  Chewy posted a thing about Harmony Korine getting into directing commercials recently and it reminded me to post one of my favorite interviews ever on basic cable.  I always like to tell people about it and I feel like they don’t believe me, whose idea was it to get Harmony Korine on a late night talk show?  When I was in film school, Korine was (and pretty much still is) my favorite director.  If you live in Richmond or go to VCU I suggest going to Cabell and looking for the copy of “Crack Up At The Race Riots” its a great book.  Even if you cant check it out you could probably read it quickly.  I need to add it to my book list.  Anyway here’s the interview, I was going to say it’s sort of a 180 from the one he gave for “Kids”, but I think he was only a bit more lucid and better dressed for that one.

Hit the Gym a little too hard last night and overslept this morning.  Going back to Richmond for the weekend, 10k and United Blood.  Gonna be such a good weekend, I can feel it.  Depression buster.

United Blood only five days away.  10k only six days away.  Training is gonna be wild this week.  Here are a few pictures I snapped last year while running around.  Gonna be such a massive chiller, friendship!

An artifact from my youth spent as a totally radical skateboarder:

whenever it was that Marc Johnson joined Chocolate, sometime in my first year of collage I guess, Chocolate came through and did a signing and demo at Dominion, my previous employer.  Most of the people on the team signed a pro board of theirs if it was on the wall and left them up there.  I decided to buy this one, not only because MJ was such a good skater (still is), but as far as I can tell it was his first pro model on Chocolate (or at least in the first group released) and I was psyched that he signed and drew that dumb bunny on his first pro board.  Still sitting at home until I have a suitable home or apartment to hang it up in again.

I have two things that I left on my wall at home so that every time I came to visit my old room wouldn’t seem so depressing. One is a sergio mendes & brazil 66 album that I framed because I’m a nerd. The short version is that while one day, watching the beastie boys DVD on criterion with the commentary on, I realized as a quick clip in a video either Adam Horovitz or Mike Diamond holding it up, while in the commentary they sung it’s praises. Super original idea on my part. Anyway, the painting is by Cortne Lanier, a good friend of mine who was a painting grad at VCU while I was undergrad. I helped her prepare her big project for her candidacy show, before she dropped out to go to architecture school at RISD. For helping her she let me have one of her paintings and make a print of another one with the giclee, which I was using a lot at the time in school. I still like this painting, though I think in reality she as going to get rid of it and I saved it from the trash. I liked Cortne’s paintings, at the time we didn’t really make similar work, but we had mutual sources of inspiration. I haven’t seen Cortne in a long time and I doubt she reads this.

This is one of the first records I bought when I started buying records again late in high school.  1st pressing, before they changed the cover to be all stuffed animals.  I wish it was still playable but at least one of the songs is totally fucked.  I used to leave my turntables and meager collection of records over at my friends house.  A good lesson on remembering to take your needles with you when you leave if you plan on doing something like that.

Maybe listened to this once.  Guess what, couldn’t care less about what the music sounded like, it’s the fucking DEATHWISH II soundtrack.

I used to really like the Locust around my sophomore/ junior year.  While I don’t really care for them anymore this is still one of my favorite albums/ collection of 7 inches.  Along with the regular 12 inch they released their first album as four puzzle piece 7 inches.  Obviously you can see that for yourself.  Impossible to listen to, why bother dealing with all the albums and switching them around when each side is about a minute long?  but awesome execution.

Awesome MOOG album.  Has the hot butter popcorn song that Aphex Twin used once.

The Nuge is one of those performers who I couldn’t be more 100 percent against most of the things he stands for, yet is totally OK by me.  Seriously, most of what he says doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

My friend made this gif and sent it to me a few years ago when I used to have long hair and a mustache.
